You are invited to journey with us to the most spiritual place in Cusco, which is the Village of Qeros. During the meeting you will be invited to stay one of the local families of Qeros. Conduct sacred ceremonies with offerings to Pacahamama with your family. This is one of the most scared and remote communities in Peru, a spiritual journey that will give you a deeper connection with yourself.
You will find Qeros in the province of Paucartambo. The village is considered one of the most unique and important villages in the country of Peru. It is believed that the locals are direct descendants of the Inca, they had survived to Spanish invasion. Until 1955 the village was so remote they recieved no outside visitors. Peru’s ministery of Cultures has called the Qeros village a national living cultural heritage.
Interestingly the Q’ero people do not follow any religion and there are actually no “shamans” among them. Their spiritual leaders are called “Paqos” and are closer to mystics rather shamans. The main difference being that shamans enter a trance induced by either a medicinal plant, dancing, or through song, where as Paqos don´t enter any type of trance. Instead of having an established dogma the Qéro people worship Pachamama “the cosmic Mother” or “Mother Earth” and “apus” the various mountain spirits. The main philosophy and way of life among the Q’ero is called “Ayni” which is a philosophy of giving and receiving. Anyi is practiced in all walks of life, between community members, with nature, and the spirit world.
Being in such a remote location with little to no Spanish or outside influence Q’eros has gone largely unchanged for thousands of years. This multi-day trip offers a unique opportunity to live in a culture that’s been otherwise long forgotten. Have the privilege of learning the ceremonies and customs of the Inca taught to you directly by their sons and daughters.
